Top Reasons To Add Kenya In Your Next Bucket List

Mount Kenya. It may not be as high as Mt Kilimanjaro, but hiking along the staggering 5,000 meters Mount Kenya doesn’t seem a walk in the park. Based on the eastern region of the Rift Valley, it stands out as the highest peak in Kenya. The hiking expedition can offer you with spectacular views of the Rift Valley and you’ll encounter the rich vegetation, deep glacier valet and snow capped mountains peaks on your way.

The Conservancies. Many people long for adventure, once-in-a-lifetime experiences; that’s why Kenya safaris have been a perfect item for thousands of people for centuries. What makes Kenya safari holidays meaningful is that you can go for game drives in one of the 25 conservancies across Kenya.

Amboseli National Park. The Amboseli National Reserve is located in the Rift Valley Peninsula of Kenya and is popular place for conducting fun-packed Kenya safari holidays, while getting close to the free-range herds of elephants.  Being well-known for elephants, this park can’t be missed when planning tours in Kenya. Not only it’s a home to elephants, but here you’ll get to see rare bird species, wild animals like hippos, baboons, buffalo and cheetahs.

Planning for a Masai Mara Safari? Know What to Pack For

Masai Mara safari tours are truly exhilarating, particularly for the inexperienced. The copious wildlife merged with the natural splendor of the wilderness is really breathtaking. However, to experience the best of Masai Mara you should be careful about what you are packing. From my personal experience, here in this post I’ve explained some essentials to pack when you are getting ready for an adventure in the wilderness of Kenya. So let’s check them out:

Luggage & bags:

To explore game drives, you’ll wish something that can keep away the dust. A plain bag with a zipper may be adequate for most  activities. This’s especially great to take into account when you want to suddenly stop at a wildlife where you’ll possibly wish to get your DSLR camera out. Something with several small zippers is possibly great to keep the whole thing in the same pocket – so that you can grab thing quickly anytime you want.

Weather gear, shoes or clothing:

As stated earlier, you’ll get filthy while exploring game drives you may wish a dust mask to cover your mouth and nose throughout the worst of the dirty situations.
Kenya boasts a very warm climate during the day, but at night the temperature drops significantly. You must bring some heavy winter wear for  the cold nights. Heavy duty boots or shoes are also recommended to walk freely in the wilderness of Kenya.

Toiletries & medical equipment:

Game drives go rather far from any toilet amenities and the toilets at the pools don’t have tissue papers. Hence, you may wish to bring your personal toiletries. There is not much to conceal behind, so you may wish to bring a towel or blanket big enough for somebody to hold to offer supplementary privacy. Sunscreen, moisturizer and lip balm should be carried to avoid the extreme dryness of Kenyan weather.

Photo gear:
Telephoto Equipment is rather wanted here. The scenery can be exceptional, but you have possibly come here to witness animals, and in several cases they’re far off. Filters, and especially a UV filter, would be great too. Or else some of the remote scenic landscape disappears when you capture your image. Very fine resolution film would be great if you require to enlarge the picture a lot. An extremely fine digital camera with maximum pixels might provide you adequate resolution, but the best films still offer a few more dots per inch to work with.

A pair of  binoculars is always recommended to experience the best of Kenya safaris.

Five Best Picks For Your First Time Ever Kenya Safari Holidays

The natural wildlife of Kenya will make your visit worthwhile. Wherever else on this planet you can get asleep while listening to the roars of wild species or witnessing millions of pink flamingoes get off from the waters of soda lakes? Each and every part of Kenya is just amazing; that will blow away your mind for sure! It’s nothing but the great enthusiasm of people dancing, laughing and singing, that impacts many tourists with a safari bug so powerful that they will never stop visiting this place again and again..

#1- Amboseli- A Hub Of Elephants

Well, it’s the best pick for the people who don’t have a better eyesight. In fact, Amboseli National Park is an abode to around 900 elephant species, encircling around the landscapes and covering wide distances in their huge herds. The landscapes of this park are very flat and open, so it’s not that much difficult to trace these creatures over a great distance or even from the unparalleled vantage point of the Observation Hill. There’s simply exciting about spotting a herd of these ferocious beasts while crossing the landscape with their slow, steady paces.

#2- Lake Naivasha- Best Pick For Budget Safari

One thing you must say about Lake Naivasha is that it’s extremely stunning! The lake houses a huge, glittering waters surrounded by rushes and green grass on the shores. Even, you will get to see the groups of native hippos wading in the shallows, who dip below the water dispersing at a quick pace, before reappearing behind you when sailing the lake on a boat. But a question might strike in your mind that why should this place with abundant natural beauty and fabulous creatures come under a budget safari! The fact is that Lake Naivasha is not a national park or game reserve, so you don’t need to pay fees to enter. This can save an incredible amount of money, especially if you are travelling with a large group of people or want to spend a couple days there. However, this place is a perfect place for a stopover between two amazing delights of Kenya, Samburu and Masai Mara.

#3- Lake Nakuru- Best Paradise For Ornithologists

A tour to any national park on this list can be a blessing for every birding enthusiast, but Lake Nakuru is a destination only for the flamingos. These are fabulous and flamboyant birds gathering in their thousands around the shores of Lake Nakuru. From a little distance of the lake, you can get to see one shifting mass of pink. If you are lucky enough, you might turn your face from flamingos and focus upon the black rhinos- one of the wild beasts thriving in this fantastic national park.

#4- Masai Mara- Best For Big Five

A pursuit of the great ‘Big Five’- lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino stands out as an obsession in these days. When go on the Kenya safari holidays, you just lose yourself in the wild and sitting around the campfire as the darkness comes it and try to alert to any potential predators. But the modern-day obsession with the ‘Big Five’ means just spotting all these five creatures in the wild, not hunting them to kill. Well, Masai Mara is the best place throughout Kenya to get glimpses of these wonderful beasts. If you want to watch the big five in an exceptional way, you just pick a hot air balloon safari for once-in-a-lifetime spectacles.

#5- Mount Kenya- Best For Adventure Enthusiasts

Well, I think the reason why this national park is the perfect choice for the climbers is simply obvious! With just a height of 51990 meters, Mount Kenya is the place of light, after which the country we know today was named. Though, the peaks can only be reached by those people with excellent technical climbing experience and even those hikers who are fit, healthy and ready for a challenge. Even if you are not used to such altitudes, many hiking treks can be reworked to include an extra adaptation during your hiking expedition.

Guide to an Unbeaten Kenya Safari

In Swahili, safari signifies “journey”, an appropriate interpretation for what’s debatably one of the most suggestive words to penetrate the English Idiom. However, before you put on a floppy cap and slip into your pocket-lined vest, take into account the following trialed & tested tips for planning the ideal Kenya safari holidays.

Where and When To Go?

Nobody knows how old it is, the picture of khaki-dressed travelers gazing out at the Masai Mara from open transports is the single main selling points for Kenya’s travel industry. When the yearly wildebeest & zebra immigration fills out the park with more than 1 million massive herbivores, a great number of which are quietly trailed by starving felines, the wildlife seeing is certainly unmatched.

However, knowledgeable travelers encounter an endless choice of substitute settings & activities. The Rift Valleys give a marine complement to the savannah, whereas Mt Kenya is home to snow-capped highlands & glaciated crests. Samburu National Reserve displays parched specialties such as the Somali and the Beisa Oryx, whereas Malinidi Marine National Park harbors whale sharks and sea turtles.

Probably the single most essential influence on the deeds of wildlife is downpour. The chief traveler season runs all through the humid, arid months of December & January, and the cold, dry periods from June to August. During the rainy season from March to May things slows down a bit, there’re lesser travelers and lodging expenses come down quite considerably.

How and What To Book?

The greater part of midrange & high-class explorers wish to complete all the hard works prior to reaching in Kenya by booking either via travel negotiators or with safari companies directly. This practice also assures that you will be allowed to secure a place at a well-known lodge, particularly throughout the peak travel seasons when lodges start filling up in well advance.

Price quotes of most safari operators include park entrée charges, full room & board, transport expenses from starting point to the different parks, and expenditure of fuel and a guide for wildlife drives. Price quotes typically presume double-habitation, with supplements for singles ranging from 20 to 50 percent of the double- habitation rate.

Most midrange Kenya safaris make use of lodges, where you will have a personal room and eat in a buffet-style self-service restaurant. Private hotels, luxury tented campsites and even private fly-in camps are supplied in top-notch safaris, all with the objective of offering highly customized experience without any discomfort. Most budget Kenya safaris are camping tours that stick to a no-extra setup with necessary meals and a small number of staff.

How to Experience the Safari:

Game drives are the foundation of most Kenyan safaris, with the idea of spending as many hours as probable in the shrub looking for creatures. Night drives are also a great way to witness nocturnal creatures, though they aren’t allowed everywhere.
A small number of crucial accessories can wonderfully enhance your safari experience in Kenya. If you are passionate about photography, then put your money on a high quality digital SLR with a 100 to 400mm zoom lens and a tiny, collapsible tripod. Furthermore, a pair of quality binoculars is possibly the most essential piece of gadget you can have on a Kenya safari.

Animals are free to rove and mayn’t be where you wish them to be, but the better educated you’re, the more likely you’re to find what you’re after. Watch out for shadows, moving plants & shapes that don’t fit into the background. Make use of your secondary vision, and look at where other animals are looking. Listen for snorting breath, sprinkling water and adjustment in the activity of other animals. Finally, unwind, keep calm and give attention to your own primitive instincts.
Tours in Kenya should not be a problem as long as you are following the tips mentioned above.
